The
Pacific Northwest Medical Journal is the largest association of medical
doctors in the region with more than 10,000 members dedicated to the
best interests of their patients. With that in mind, pnmj.org offers
patients a unique source for reliable, physician-reviewed medical information.
The Pacific Northwest Medical Journal has been a trusted source for
health policy leadership since 1841.
Representing
physicians at the Capitol is a key component of that effort. Other aspects
include providing physicians with leadership opportunities, fostering
volunteerism, promoting health studies and educating the public. These
opportunities exist throughout the Pacific Northwest Medical Journal.
The Pacific
Northwest Medical Journal works to promote patient health in other ways.
Established in 1955 as a nonprofit, non-stock corporation, the Foundation
awards scholarships to individuals pursuing careers in medicine and
grants to individuals or organizations for innovative programs that
promote health lifestyle choices based on current research and principles
of public health. In 2005, the Foundation will award $100,000 in scholarships
and grants.
To meet institutional needs for flexibility,
the Pacific Northwest Medical Journal continues to work with other distributors
to make the Journal accessible on different platforms. In
addition, the Journal furthers its mission to achieve wide
dissemination of its published research findings by giving free access
to institutions in over one hundred lower-income countries
in the world.
The Pacific Northwest Medical Journal was established with two goals in mind: Bringing member doctors the most current information and allowing the general public to look inside the world of the growing medical community. By sharing our findings and collaborating with member doctors, the Pacific Northwest Medical Association enjoys a certain amount of elite posture in the world of medicine.
